Akarodermatitidy jsou v klinické praxi velmi častým onemocněním. Postihují zejména pacienty provozující domácí hospodářství. Vyskytují se i u městských obyvatel, kteří chovají domácí mazlíčky – psy, kočky, morčata nebo králíky. U těch se mohou pomnožit zejména cheyletielly. Roztočové dermatitidy představují zajímavé interdisciplinární téma mezi dermatology, veterinárními lékaři a parazitology. Styčné body jsou také nalézány s dermatohistopatology. Zvláště postižení cheyletielózou může svými kožními projevy klinicky i histopatologicky napodobovat imunobulózní dermatózy.
Acarodermatitis is a very common disease in clinical practice. It affects, especially, patients running their own farm. It also occurs in city inhabitants keeping pets – dogs, cats, guinea pigs or rabbits. The pets may be affected by cheyletiella. Acarodermatitis represents a remarkable interdisciplinary topic for dermatologists, veterinarians and parasitologists. Contact points are also found in dermatohistopathology. Above all, cheyletiellosis cutaneous symptoms may clinically and histopathologically imitate immunobullous dermatoses.

A naturally occurring α-amylase inhibitor (α-AI) of Triticum aestivum protects wheat grain from gramnivorous arthropod pests. The α-AI (Type-I) was incorporated into carbohydrate and protein diets to test its inhibitory activity on the stored-product mites Acarus siro, Lepidoglyphus destructor and Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Acari: Astigmata). Growth tests of mites fed the various diets were used to compare the suppressive effects. The final population size of mites attained from an initial population of 50 specimens maintained under controlled conditions (85 % relative humidity and 25 °C) was compared after 21 days of cultivation. The results showed that α-AI in the concentration in the range of 0.01-1 mg g(-1) did not suppress the growth of the tested stored-product mites. α-AI at a concentration of 10 mg g(-1) exerted a growth-suppressive effect that depended on the diet and species of the mites. The growth rate of A. siro was affected by the type of diet and was higher on carbohydrate diet than on the protein diet, the suppressive effect of α-AI was on the both diets. The growth-suppressive effect of α-AI on L. destructor and T. putrescentiae was significant when they were fed the protein diet but not when they were fed the carbohydrate diet. The higher resistance of tested mites to α-AI (proteinaceous) compared to non-proteinaceous acarbose corresponds to a powerful proteotolytic system in the mite gut. The results are discussed in terms of the adaptability of mites to utilize the starch from food sources.

The acaricidal effect of textile surface with Ag+sorbed to was tested under laboratory experiment to supress allergen producing mites Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and D. farinae . The mortality was compared after 24 and 48 hours of exposure of mites to sized textiles. Chitosan-Ag+textile caused at least 80% mortality of both species tested. It was confirmed that washing decreased toxicity of chitosan-Ag textile against mi- tes. The results support a great potential of chitosan/Ag+textile as prevention to mite infestation in houses of sensitive patients.

BACKGROUND: Plasma treatment enables effective binding of chitosan film to textile fibres. Heavy metal ions such as Ag(+) adsorbed onto the chitosan coating are known to enhance toxicity to microorganisms. The acaricidal effect of chitosan and chitosan/metal adducts with Ag(+) , Zn(2+) and Cu(2+) was tested in laboratory experiments. Tested species Acarus siro, Dermatophagoides farinae, D. pteronyssinus and Tyrophagus putrescentiae are allergen producers and important pests in house dust, stored food and feed. The mortality was compared after 24 h of exposure of mites to plasma-treated textiles. RESULTS: Chitosan/Ag(+) textile caused at least 80% mortality of all species tested. Chitosan/Zn(2+) and chitosan/Cu(2+) textiles had a smaller effect on mite mortality than chitosan/Ag(+) . The conversion of chitosan/Ag(+) finishing to chitosan/Ag2 O did not influence the mortality of mites in biotests, except that of Tyrophagus putrescentiae, where the mortality decreased from 86 to 64%. CONCLUSION: The results support a great potential of chitosan/Ag(+) fibres in acaricidal materials and/or mite protective food packages.

The effect of four avermectins on the population growth of pest mite Lepidoglyphus destructor was tested in laboratory experiments. The avermectins (abamectin, doramectin, emamectin-benzoate and ivermectin) of analytical purity were incorporated into an experimental diet at the same molar concentrations, ranging from 0.16 to 8 nmol/3 g of diet. Using an initial population of 50 mites, the population growth was recorded after 21 days at 85 % relative humidity and 25 °C; 12 repeats were performed per avermectin concentration and control. The diets containing the avermectins successfully suppressed the population growth of L. destructor. The EC(50) recalculated to ng of substance per g of diet showed different suppressive effects of the avermectins: doramectin (181 ng/g diet), abamectin (299 ng/g diet), emamectin-benzoate (812 ng/g diet) and ivermectin (992 ng/g diet). Of the tested avermectins, abamectin is registered for the control of phytophagous mites and ivermectin against parasitic mites, i.e., Psoroptes ovis. Although emamectin-benzoate and ivermectin were less effective on L. destructor, all of the tested avermectins are highly suitable compounds for the control of synanthropic mites.

Jako účinné byly zjištěny následující formulace: Acarosan®duo, AUergofif 200 SC, Biolit Plus, Cascade 5 EC, Crackdown Rapide, Fedorex-Profi, Omite 570 EW, Reslin 25 SE, Sanmite 20 WP, Vertimec 1,8 EC.
The chemical elimination of dust mites as allergen producers belongs to the important methods of allergen mitigation in househo lds. Up to present time, the comparison of the efficacy of available acarcidial and insecticidal formulation to control house dust mites has been completely missing. Therefore the efficacy of 26 formulations of biocides to Deramatophagoides pteronyssinus was compared in the laboratory essay. Among the tested biocides, Acarosan ® duo, Biolit Plus, Allergoff 200 SC and Fedorex-Profi are labeled exclusively against house dust mites. The aim of our work was to find the most effective biocide formulation. The experiments were carried out in the chambers with biocide impr egnated filter paper. The mortality was checked after 24 hours of pesticide exposure. The data were analyzed by probit analyze and doses for 9 9% mortality were fitted. Based on the laboratory essay, the following formulation were found to be satisfactory effective: Acarosan ® duo, Allergoff 200 SC, Biolit Plus, Cascade 5 EC, Crackdown Rapide, Fedorex-Profi, Omite 570 EW, Reslin 25 SE, Sanmite 20 WP and Vertimec 1,8 EC.
BACKGROUND: The efficacies of organophosphate pesticides, single-compound versus multicompound pyrethroid formulations and relatively novel unclassified insecticides/acaricides were compared to find the lowest dosage and highest efficacy for the control of Dermatophagoides farina (Hughes), D. pteronyssinus (Trouessart) and Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Schrank). Formulated active ingredients (AIs) were diluted in water and applied onto filter paper in experimental chambers with ten unsexed adult mites in six replicates. Mite mortality was checked after 24 h. The security index (SI) was calculated for all of the AIs by dividing the recommended rate by the LD(90) determined for each species. RESULTS: The tested organophosphates had high LD(90) and low SI values. The single-compound pyrethroids were ineffective (deltamethrin and beta-cyfluthrin) or had high LD(90) and low SI values (cyphenothrin, permethrin, pyrethrum and bifenthrin). The multicompound miticides had low LD(90) and high SI values which increased from deltamethrin/S-bioallethrin to permethrin/S-bioallethrin/piperonyl butoxide to permethrin/pyriproxyfen/benzyl benzoate. Abamectin, pyridaben, propargite and flufenoxuron were highly active against Dermatophagoides spp. Neem (Acarosan duo) was highly active against all mite species tested. CONCLUSION: The available formulations of multicompound pyrethroids (permethrin/S-bioallethrin/piperonyl butoxide, permethrin/pyriproxyfen/benzyl benzoate), benzyl benzoate, neem and some field acaricides are effective in suppression of synanthropic mites in laboratory assays. Their LD(90) are lower than those of traditionally used organophosphates or single-compound pyrethroid formulations.
Objective: The all year-round exposure to environmental allergens almost never has clear symptom-free period and makes it difficult to conclude that allergen exposure is causal to trigger chronic rhinitis symptoms in sensitized individuals. The purpose of this study was to assess whether specific nasal challenge will confirm the nasal mucosa reactivity in patients with perennial rhinitis sensitized to house dust mites, cat or dog and will subsequently exclude probands suffering from perennial non-allergic rhinitis. Methods: A specific nasal challenge, using active anterior rhinomanometry was conducted on 30 persistent rhinitis patients (diagnosed IgE and/or skin prick test positive) with history of symptoms over the previous 3 years. Results: 30 patients underwent specific nasal challenge with house dust mites, cat or dog allergens, 18 individuals were reactive. Eleven of 20 reacted to mites, 5 of 8 to cat and all 2 reacted to dog allergens. We found significant association between specific nasal challenge and skin prick test with mites, dominantly in patients with strong skin reactivity. Younger age is associated with higher nasal reactivity. No lower airway symptoms were observed during the challenge. Conclusions: Our results indicate specific nasal challenge is useful tool to confirm the nasal reactivity to allergen in majority of perennial rhinitis patients.
