AIM: The paper describes the characteristics of relationship obsessive-compulsive disorder (R-OCD), including the types of obsessions and compulsions, the common triggers and the impact on psychological well-being and relationship functioning. It also offers basic cognitive-behavioural strategies to help patients change their attitudes towards obsessive thoughts and reduce compulsive behaviours. METHODS: This article is a narrative review of the literature and case studies on R-OCD. To search for relevant sources, we used PubMed, PsycINFO and Web of Science databases with the keywords "relationship obsessive compulsive disorder", "R-OCD", "relationship OCD" and "partner-focused OCD". We included only studies published in English from January 1990 to June 2023. The paper provides examples of how basic cognitive-behavioural strategies help individuals with R-OCD. RESULTS: People with R-OCD experience intrusive thoughts about whether they have the right feelings for their partner, whether their partner loves them, whether the relationship is suitable or whether their partner has flaws. These thoughts trigger the urge to perform various rituals to alleviate anxiety, such as repeated checking, reassurance or comparison. However, this behaviour leads to disruption of the relationship and long-term maintenance of the anxiety. Examples of basic cognitive-behavioural strategies can be applied in clinical practice to help individuals change their attitudes towards relational obsessive thoughts and reduce compulsive behaviours.
V České republice prodělává dětská a perinatální paliativní medicína v posledních letech prudký rozvoj a přibývá pracovišť, kde je v nemocničním prostředí nabízena specializovaná paliativní péče prostřednictvím konziliárních týmů. V článku jsou představeny základní principy perinatální paliativní péče, reflektována její specifika a aktuální situace v České republice. Závěrem jsou prezentovány zkušenosti z poskytování perinatální paliativní péče v pražské Fakultní nemocnici v Motole.
Palliative care in the neonatal period represents a specific component of pediatric palliative care. In accordance with internationally accepted standards and the World Health Organization's recommendations, it should be provided from the diagnosis onwards, even during ongoing treatment with a curative intent. In the Czech Republic, pediatric palliative medicine, as well as perinatal palliative care, has undergone rapid development in recent years, with an increasing number of facilities offering specialized palliative care within hospital settings through consultative teams. This article introduces the basic principles of perinatal palliative care, reflects on the specifics of palliative care for severely ill newborns, and the current situation in the Czech Republic. Finally, experiences from providing perinatal palliative care at the Motol University Hospital in Prague are presented.

Collective gatherings are often associated with the alignment of psychophysiological states between members of a crowd. While the process of emotional contagion has been studied extensively in dyads as well as at the population level, our understanding of its operation and dynamics as they unfold in real time in real-world group contexts remains limited. Employing a naturalistic design, we investigated emotional contagion in a public religious ritual by examining the relationship between interpersonal distance and autonomic arousal. We found that proximity in space was associated with heightened affective synchrony between participants in the context of the emotionally laden ritual (a Hindu procession) compared with an unstructured walk along the same route performed by the same group. Our findings contribute to the understanding of collective emotions and their underlying psychophysiological mechanisms, emphasizing the role of cultural practices in shaping collective emotional experiences.

Rituály vedou ke snížení úzkosti a napětí. Toto chování však vede k narušení vztahu a dlouhodobému udržování úzkosti. Článek popisuje charakteristiky R-OCD a nabízí základní strategie kognitivně behaviorální terapie (KBT), která pomáhá pacientům změnit svůj vztah k obsedantním myšlenkám a snížit nutkavé chování.
Relationship obsessive compulsive disorder (R-OCD) is a subtype of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) that manifests in constant doubts and anxieties about an intimate relationship. People with R-OCD suffer from intrusive thoughts about whether they have the right feelings for their partner, whether their partner loves them, whether the relationship is suitable or whether their partner has any flaws. These thoughts trigger the urge to perform various rituals to alleviate anxiety, such as repeated checking, reassurance or comparison. However, this behaviour leads to disruption of the relationship and long-term maintenance of the anxiety. This paper described characteristics of R-OCD and offers basic cognitive-behavioural strategies that help the patients to change their attitude towards the obsessive thoughts and reduce compulsive behaviour.

Throughout history, many sports evolved from rituals performed at religious celebrations. In this light, it is clear that religion and sport are symbolic systems with shared values and goals. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the descriptive parameters of publications by visualizing citation patterns, extracting author keywords, and determining the impact and performance of research on religion and sports. An examination of 1,408 publications indexed in the Scopus and WoS databases was carried out from 1899 to 2022. The results show that after 2015, there was a considerable increase in sports and religion publications, with Scopus publications continuing to increase compared to WoS. The United States accounts for about 457 of the total global publications. Furthermore, with 19 documents, the title of the scientific source "Games and Economic Behavior" is the most active. In 170 documents, the keyword "physical activity" appears most frequently in this analysis. The trending topic with the largest absolute growth is "physical activity," while the trending topic with the largest relative growth is "osteoarthritis." Overall, the research in this field is evolving, with the development of new methodologies and channels for communicating vital lessons about values, culturally appropriate behaviour, and health scope. This study contributes to developing new concepts in the multidisciplinary study of the relationship between sport and religion. The significance of religious values in physical activity and in injuries suffered by athletes, as well as in the psychological development of athletes, is one area that can be studied in more depth.
People face stressors that are beyond their control and that maladaptively perpetuate anxiety. In these contexts, rituals emerge as a natural coping strategy helping decrease excessive anxiety. However, mechanisms facilitating these purported effects have rarely been studied. We hypothesized that repetitive and rigid ritual sequences help the human cognitive-behavioral system to return to low-entropy states and assuage anxiety. This study reports a pre-registered test of this hypothesis using a Czech student sample (n = 268). Participants were exposed to an anxiety induction and then randomly assigned to perform one of three actions: ritualized, control, and neutral (no-activity). We assessed the effects of this manipulation on cognitive and physiological anxiety, finding that ritualized action positively affected anxiety decrease, but this decrease was only slightly larger than in the other two conditions. Nevertheless, the between-condition differences in the reduction of physiological anxiety were well-estimated in participants more susceptible to anxiety induction.
