Autoři popisují oční i celkové příznaky 5 pacientů s adenomem hypofýzy, zjištěnýmna základě očního vyšetření.Shodnýmipříznakyuvšech pacientů bylypokles zrakové ostrosti nebo skotomy zorného pole. Rozdílné byly celkové projevy choroby.
Authors describe eye and general symptoms in five patients with the adenoma of the pituitary gland, detected on the results of the ophthalmological examination. Identical symptoms in all patients were the decrease of central visual acuity or visual field defects. The general somatic manifestations of the disease were different.

Článek podává přehled o onemocněních, která postihují adenohypofýzu. Je členěn do dvou částí: patologické procesy v oblasti selární a supraselární – hypopituitarismus a jeho léčba. U vybraných onemocnění popisuje frekvenci výskytu, etiologii, klinický obraz, diagnostické postupy a kritéria, diferenciální diagnostiku a aktuální terapeutické postupy. Ačkoliv závažná onemocnění postihující hypofýzu nejsou častá, je potřeba na ně myslet. Časné stanovení diagnózy a zahájení léčby například u nádorů hypofýzy nebo u hypopituitarismu mohou u pacienta předejít závažným komplikacím a vrátit jej do plnohodnotného života.
The paper gives an overview of diseases affecting the anterior pituitary gland. It is divided into two parts: pathologic processes in the sellar and suprasellar regions and hypopituitarism and its treatment. Selected diseases, their prevalence, aetiology, clinical symptoms, diagnostic methods and criteria, differential diagnostics and currently used therapeutic procedures are described. Although serious anterior pituitary gland diseases are not common, it is necessary to keep them in mind. Early diagnosis and treatment of for instance pituitary tumours or hypopituitarism can prevent serious complications and return the patient to everyday life, with full quality of life preserve
