The social exclusion is a serious global problem, and the social exclusion of the child has not been examined in a more conceptual way so far. Our main objective is to refer to the social exclusion of the child as to a dimension to which attention is not paid adequately, although it belongs to serious negative phenomena of multi-dimensional nature. The introduction deals with historical and European context of the social exclusion. On the basis of a system analysis we created two groups of subsets by categorization from a set of propositions concerning the social exclusion, namely the category of reasons of the social exclusion and the category of general characteristics of individuals that are in the process of social exclusion. Subsequently, we describe the reasons of the social exclusion of children, specifying and causally designating the subjects that initiate the social exclusion of children. We believe that whether the social exclusion of the child is caused by his/her parents or by another factor we cannot understand it only within an individual failure as external reasons also exist where it is a failure of several structures that can ensure a needed social integration of children within social activities. We point out that, in terms of the social exclusion of the child, we cannot focus only on monetary and consumption dimension of parents but also on the dynamics of the process of social exclusion when the child is integrated into the process of social exclusion by force without his/her effort as his/her outlook for the future is weak due to external factors. Finally, we refer to the consequences that the social exclusion of children can have for the whole climate in the society in the future, especially, for its stability and prevention of socio-pathologic phenomena.

Objectives: In social work with the excluded, critical approaches are recommended that are not used in the Czech Republic. Goal: To map the approaches and development of presenting social exclusion in publications aimed at social work. Methods: The article analyzes documents – fundamental and recommended publications for social work programs in the Czech Republic selected via targeted selection. Overall, 21 publications were selected for the purpose of recording the development over time. The content analysis was based on the proposal of a categorization system and subsequent search for the presence of the representative features of the categories. Results: The analysis shows that the socially excluded are represented very diversely. However, there was often a tendency to commit attribute errors, due to the description of the attributes of excluded persons and neglecting systemic issues. Some dimensions of exclusion were not reflected. The most typical approach is client oriented. Preferred approaches shift towards being more critical and complex. Conclusions: Unfortunately, professional publications can sometimes paradoxically act as a source of marginalization. A positive direction is set for the development of approaches – towards the more critical and reflexive. Labelling of excluded persons remains rigid and focuses on their characteristics, instead of reflecting on the societal attributes.

OBJECTIVES: The current study aims to examine how social exclusion is related to subjective well-being in older adults across different European regions. METHODS: European population-based cross-sectional study design was employed using data sampled from the eighth round of the European Social Survey (ESS). Multiple items for social exclusion were used in this round, including household income, civic participation, frequent meetings with friends and relatives, basic health services, and neighborhood cohesion. Life satisfaction, happiness, and self-rated general health were also assessed. An ANOVA was performed to examine the regional differences related to social exclusion and subjective well-being, while a regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between the social exclusion and subjective well-being. RESULTS: There were significant regional differences in the social exclusion and subjective well-being of older Europeans. In addition, older adults in the Nordic nations are more likely to indicate higher levels of subjective well-being and lower levels of social exclusion, while older adults from Central and Eastern European nations tend to report lower levels of subjective well-being and higher levels of social exclusion. Material resources and basic services are highlighted as the most important domains pertaining to life satisfaction, happiness, and general health. DISCUSSION: The study findings reinforce the inequality in subjective well-being linked to social exclusion across different societies. Both global and country-specific exclusion models in later life should be implemented in order to enhance comparable research and provide insight into EU and national guidelines for interventions to diminish social exclusion.

This article deals with the issue of social exclusion of immigrants in the Czech Republic. A review of expert sources indicates that immigrants are most often excluded from the labour market, housing market, and in communication with institutions. These areas became the target of our research. We observed how they were affect by knowledge of the Czech language, length of residence and type of work performed. The study was conducted using quantitative research strategies, interviews, and a questionnaire, the clarity of which was ensured by a double translation. The research group consisted of immigrants, namely Vietnamese, Slovak, Russian, Ukrainian, and Polish nationalities, living in selected regions of the Czech Republic. Results showed that there were statistically significant differences among the immigrant groups. The Vietnamese were least satisfied with housing conditions; they often reported living in overcrowded apartments and dormitories, and saw little chance of changing their situation because of discrimination by landlords. With regard to Czech language skills, the greater difference between Czech and Vietnamese and the relative similarity between Czech and the other studied immigrant languages also played a role. As a result, this indicator also showed the greatest dissatisfaction among the Vietnamese. For employees, poor knowledge of Czech corresponds to lower socioeconomic status.

Předmětná stať se zabývá společenskými procesy globalizovaného světa, které jsou jen částečně sanovány sociální politikou národních států a hospodářskou pomocí zemím třetího světa. V našem případě to vždy představuje globální, Unijní, státní a regionální rozměr, a procesy právně-operačního dopracování a realizace. Není tedy bezprostředně závazná a nemá přednost před zákonem. V České republice již dávno vznikla nutnost společenských diskurzů různých formátů. Právě kvalitnější percepce občanů, s využitím právních nástrojů, může podstatně změnit dimenzi sociální ochrany a prolínání municipální politiky, církevních a občanských aktivit, škol a zařízení všech stupňů.
The objective discourse deals with social processes of a globalised world that are only partly covered by social policy of national countries and economic help offered to developing countries. As far as the Czech Republic is concerned it always includes a global, Union, state and regional dimension and processes of legal and operational elaboration and implementation. Special attention should be paid to the European Social Charter, for being not only a universal document, but concerning the Czech Republic, also a reduced document. In compliance with a submitted report of the Government of the Czech Republic in 1999 the Charter should have been adopted as an international treaty of human rights according to the article no. 10 of the Constitution of the Czech Republic. However, it did not happen. The Charter is not obligatory and has no priority over the law. Long time ago social discourses of various formats were necessary in the Czech Republic. Better perception of citizens, with the application of legal instruments, can change essentialy the dimension of social protection and interference of municipal policy and civil activities also the quality of social life in general.
