Older adults with cancer experience are more likely to encounter a notable reduction of participation in physical and social leisure activities, which may threaten their overall well-being. The purpose of this study was to explore how specific types of leisure activities and leisure satisfaction were linked to hedonic and eudaimonic well-being among older adults who had experienced cancer. A nationally representative sample of 2,934 older adults with lifetime cancer experience was retained from the Health and Retirement Study. The results of regression analysis revealed that walking for 20 minutes was reported as the only type of leisure activity related to hedonic well-being for the oldest-old (85+ years old). The current study also found that TV watching was significantly, but negatively associated with eudaimonic well-being for the young-old (50-74 years of age). In contrast, using a computer was positively linked to hedonic and eudaimonic well-being among the young-old and old-old (75-84 years of age). The current study made a significant contribution to build the body of knowledge that the different age groups of older adults who had experienced cancer can enhance eudaimonic and hedonic well-being by participating in different types of leisure activities. Implications for further research are discussed.

BACKGROUND: Satisfaction with the birth experience has been established to be critical for the wellbeing of the mother. The Birth Satisfaction Scale-Revised (BSS-R) is a brief and psychometrically robust multi-dimensional self-report tool designed to assess birth experience. The current investigation sought to translate and validate a Czech Republic version of the BSS-R (CZ-BSS-R). METHODS: Following translation psychometric assessment of the CZ-BSS-R was undertaken using a cross-sectional design. A between-subjects design was incorporated in order to evaluate known-groups validity evaluation of the translated measure. Four hundred and sixty-five Czech-speaking women within the Czech Republic took part in the study. Confirmatory factor analysis was undertaken and divergent and convergent validity and internal consistency characteristics also evaluated. RESULTS: The CZ-BSS-R was observed to have excellent psychometric properties and conceptually and measurement faithful to the original English-language measure. Consistent with previous investigations using the BSS-R significant differences were found in scores as a function of delivery type. CONCLUSIONS: The CZ-BSS-R is a valid, robust and reliable measure of birth experience and suitable for use with Czech-speaking women in the Czech Republic. The study highlighted that instrument and emergency Caesarean section were associated with a lower level of birth satisfaction compared to vaginal delivery.

Background: In Greek scientific literature, no other studies using emotional intelligence as a personal trait were found. Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the validity and reliability of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire - Short Form in a Greek educational context. The internal consistency as well as the levels of emotional intelligence, along with the gender as a factor that differentiates emotional intelligence have also been examined. Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 306 (for exploratory factor analysis) and 415 (for confirmatory factor analysis) students who attended the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades of high school. The selection of the sample was randomly performed. The scale consists of 30 questions and four factors. The statistical analysis of the data included descriptive statistics, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis using Cronbach's α and discriminant/convergent validity, and t-test for independent samples. Results: The results of the confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the hypothesized model produced a significant χ2 (1026.58), normed fit index (.96) and comparative fit index (.97). The root mean square error of approximation (.78) was also considered to assess the degree extent to which the model of fit of. Composite reliability (≥ .948) and average variance extracted (≥ .751) of all dimensions of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire - Short Form demonstrated an acceptable reliability coefficient. Conclusions: From the analysis of the results, we came to the following conclusions. The Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire - Short Form constitutes an instrument credible enough to measure the emotional intelligence of high school male and female students. Gender is a differentiation factor for Total emotional intelligence, Self-control, and Well-being factors.

BACKGROUND: In the assessment of healthcare processes focusing on the quality of care provided, patient satisfaction is an important indicator that healthcare providers may use for future setting of healthcare and preventing adverse events. The study aimed to determine satisfaction with nursing care among hospital inpatients. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The sample comprised 14 023 patients staying in medical and surgical wards of 14 acute care hospitals in the Czech Republic in 2019-2020. Data were collected using the Patient Satisfaction Scale, a standardized tool containing 11 items in 3 subscales. Data analysis included descriptive statistics and correlation analysis (Spearman's rank correlation coefficient). RESULTS: Overall, patients reported high satisfaction with nursing care (M = 3.57). Patients were most satisfied with how their technical/rational needs were met (M = 3.57); the least satisfaction was identified in the domain of information needs (M = 3.53). Patients who perceived their health as good (47%) or very good (18%) showed high satisfaction scores (M = 3.77 and M = 3.73, respectively). High scores were also achieved for patients with secondary (M = 3.58) and tertiary (M = 3.59) education, those whose admission was planned (M = 3.59) and those staying in large hospitals (M = 3.60). There were no differences in satisfaction with regard to gender (p = 0.755) and the COVID-19 pandemic (p = 0.190). CONCLUSIONS: Patients' satisfaction with care provided is a highly significant parameter of healthcare quality. It is influenced by a number of aspects which, if adequately defined, may aid in improving the quality of care. Med Pr Work Health Saf. 2023;74(6):461-8.

BACKGROUND: Evaluation of life satisfaction of older people using standardised tools can play a crucial role in evaluating the effectiveness of policy measures aimed at mitigating the effects of population aging. OBJECTIVES: The aim of the study was to verify the psychometric properties of the Czech version of a 12-item scale (the Life Satisfaction Index for the Third Age) for older people living in the community. METHODS: The research involved 1113 older people from the Moravian-Silesian Region over 60 years of age living in a home environment. For the newly created Czech version of LSITA-SF12, we tested validity (construct validity and convergent validity) and reliability (internal consistency). RESULTS: We confirmed a single-factor model for the LSITA-SF12 scale (χ2 = 71.33, p < .001, CFI = 0.995, TLI = 0.994, RMSEA = 0.065, SRMR = 0.056, GFI = 0.999) by confirmatory factor analysis and load factor analysis (values of explorations ≥0.45). The internal consistency of the scale was satisfactory (α = 0.878). Furthermore, there was a medium correlation rate (r = 0.592; p < .001) between the overall score of the LSITA-SF and quality-of-life score (OPQoL-Brief). CONCLUSIONS: We found the Czech version of the LSITA-SF12 questionnaire to have satisfactory psychometric properties. The questionnaire is suitable for use in research and clinical practice to evaluate the effectiveness of preventive measures. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov. PRS Protocol Registration and Results System; NCT05637177. IMPLICATION FOR PRACTICE: The LSITA_SF12 questionnaire can beadministered by a community gerontological nurse and can be used in clinicalpractice and research.

Trying to manage the stress load alone is a superhuman task. Especially for healthcare professionals who deal with high levels of stress almost every day, their mental health needs to be taken into account. It is commonly said that health is only one thing and it is also the most precious thing we have. The health of doctors and other health professionals is not given much thought. Without systemic and individualised or group assistance, the health sector may run into further problems, and in a situation where it is dealing with the aftershocks of a difficult covid period, the consequences may be all the greater. Care for the mental wellbeing of healthcare staff is demonstrated in the article as something that should be a normal part of the working life of every healthcare worker. Excess stress and excessive work responsibilities lead to burnout syndrome, which has a negative impact on the quality of work done and on mental health. If mental health is not taken care of, staffing problems in the healthcare sector can be exacerbated.

Tyto dotazníky využívaly Short Warwick Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale (SWEMWBS), nástroj Multidimenzionální škála vnímané sociální podpory a nástroj Škála duševního zdraví. Průzkum zahrnoval i položky z dotazníku Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). Výsledky tohoto výzkumu by mohly poskytnout zákonodárcům, odborníkům z praxe a vedení univerzit užitečné poznatky, které podporují pozitivní výsledky provádění intervenčních programů ke zlepšení duševní pohody studentů.
The Covid-19 pandemic has been widely examined to be both an economic crisis and health with updates of increasing the mental health and well-being of university students. This study examines the relationships between physical health, social support, and mental health literacy with the mental well-being of Malaysian university students during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study population comprised 199 students. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with self-administered questionnaires that used the Short Warwick Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale (SWEMWBS), the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support instrument, and the Mental Health Literacy Scale. The survey also included items from the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). The results of this study showed that physical health had a positive and strong relationship with mental well-being. Similarly, the results indicated that social support had a significant and positive relationship with mental well-being. However, mental health literacy was not significantly associated with mental well-being. The results of this research might provide policymakers, practitioners, and university management with useful insights that foster the positive outcome of conducting intervention programs to improve the mental well-being of students.

Introduction: There are few studies on the association between insomnia and categories of psychological well-being among nurses in clinical settings. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to explore the effect of insomnia and shift working on psychological well-being among nurses in public hospitals. Methods: A total of 107 nurses (20-44 years old) were included using a non-random technique. The nurses were selected from four public hospitals in Iraqi Kurdistan in 2019. Results: The mean age of the nurses was 29.94 (20-44 years). They had diploma (48.6%) and bachelor's degrees (51.4%), worked morning (36.4%), evening (19.6%), and night shifts (14.0%), and some (29.9%) were shift rotators. Most nurses worked in the public sector (56.1%) or both sectors (43.9%). The mean sleep score of the nurses was 10.68 out of a total of 24. The prevalence of insomnia among nurses was 80.4%. The mean value of general psychological well-being was 26.64 out of a total 36. Working morning shifts and having a high level of insomnia were predictors of worse psychological well-being. Nurses who worked in the morning or as shift rotators were more likely to feel unable to overcome difficulties. They were also less likely to enjoy normal day-to-day activities, less likely to feel reasonably happy, and more likely to lose confidence in their lives. The level of facing up to one's problems increased according to the severity of insomnia. Conclusions: The study showed that nurses with insomnia had worse psychological well-being than nurses without insomnia in public hospitals.
