Autoři diskutují o poškozeni biomolekul, tkání a orgánů působením volných radikálů. Soustřeďují se na význam volných radikálů v patogenezi závěrečných akutních stavů. Podrobněji jsou rozvedeny následující stavy: ischemicko-reperfuznipoškozeni orgánů, akutnípankreatitida, preeklampsie a syndrom náhlého úmrtí děti. Zdůrazňují nutnost vzít v úvahu negativní vliv volných radikálů na rozvoj komplikaci a těchto onemocněni a pokusit se ho ovlivnit včasným podáním antioxidancií.
The authors discuss the damaging effects of free radicals on biomolecules, tissues and organs. They focus on the importance of free radicals in the pathogenesis affinal acute status. Following conditions are discussed in detail: ischemic-repetfusion organ injury, acute pancreatitis, preeclampsia and sudden infant death syndrome. They stress the importance to consider negative influence of free radicals on the evolving complications and these diseases, with possible protective effect of early administration of antioxidants.
