Vizuálna morfometria neumožní stanoviť skutočný počet deformovaných stavcov najmä s počínajúcimi deformáciami SDSl a je nevhodnou metódou k dynamickému sledovaniu deformačných zmien osteoporotických stavcov v časovom intervale,
The authors explain the method of visual morphometry used for quantitative evaluation of deformities of osteoporotic vertebrae in ambvdatory practice. At the same time they draw attention to be shortcomings of the method. These shortcomings are found on repeated conventional control X-ray pictures of the thoracic (Th) and lumbosacral (LS) spine in a lateral projection. Of 62 followed up and treated patients during a one-year X-ray check-up in 51 patients the original deformities grade SDSl (score of vertebral deformity) on one or a maximum of three vertebrae, m the same patient were not found. In three patients of the above 51 original deformities grade SDS2 ^re not found. Visual morphometry does not make it possible to detect the actual number of affected vertebrae, in particular those with incipient SDSl deformities and it is unsuitable for the dynamic follow-up of deformities of osteoporotic vertebrae after time intervals.
