Prostatě cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in men. Despite advances in detection and tre¬atment, there has been no significant decrease in mortality. Therefore, recent research effort has gone into the finding of the prognostic factors that can predict outcome in patients. Many of the clinically important predictive factors in prostatě cancers are derived from a pathologisťs examination of tissue specimens. According to College of American Pathologists (CAP), prognostic and predictive factors are stratified into three main categories. The author of the article describes individual factors included in these groups. He stress necessity to study and analyse other new biomarkers for better management and treatment in indivi¬dual patients.

Current treatment algorithms for metastatic renal cell carcinoma are based on the sequential use of drugs. It is therefore advisable to have prognostic and predictive markers available before starting treatment so that the right drug can be chosen for a particular patient with a particular type of kidney tumor. The following article discusses potential biomarkers.
