Aim: The aim of this quantitative study is to introduce the Czech version of the PIH scale and the specific aspects of validity and reliability. The partial objectives are the factor structure of the scale, its reliability and validity, and subsequent verification of the possible application of the scale on the Czech population and the evaluation of other results obtained using the exploratory factor analysis. Methods: The study describes language validation PIH scale and psychometrically characterizes the PIH scale on the group of 230 patients with chronic cardiovascular disease. The results are calculated using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, factor analysis and programs Excel and IBM SPSS. Results: The exploratory factor analysis shows four-factor solution. The value of Cronbach’s alpha 0.91 shows a high reliability of the PIH scale. The split-half reliability 0.83 and test-retest reliability 0.81 shows its good reliability. Conclusion: The results of the study provide information on the factor solution and the PIH scale reliability which confirm its good psychometric characteristics. It has been confirmed that the PIH scale is suitable for use in the clinical conditions of the Czech Republic healthcare. The research is supported by the project IGA_FZV_2017_003 Psychometric validation of PIH scale in patients with chronic cardiovascular disease.

Metodika: Posúdenie vnútornej konzistencie BBDPH s určením koeficientu split-half reliability a určením Cronbachovho alfa, posúdenie korelácie závažnosti hrania vyjadrenej prostredníctvom skóre BBDPH s počtom splnených DSM-IV a DSM-5 kritérií patologického hráčstva.
Backround: One of the possible ways of rating gambling problems is the continuum from recreational gambling to pathological gambling. Although several scales for measurement of severity of pathological gambling were created abroad, there are no standardized versions of them available in Slovakia, which lead to construction of „Banská Bystrica Pathological Gambling Questionnaire“ (BBDPH). BBDPH was created for measurement of pathological gambling severity. Goal: In a pilot study, reliability and validity of BBDPH were evaluated. Methods: Measurement of the internal consistency of BBDPH with defining split-half reliability coefficient and Cronbach’s alpha, a correlation of severity of pathological gambling considered with BBDPH score with number of fulfilled DSM-IV and DSM-5 criterion of pathological gambling. The research sample consisted of 50 pathological gamblers who were treated at Department of Psychiatry in Banská Bystrica. Results: Within the frame of the pilot study adequate reliability and validity of BBDPH were demonstrated. Conclusion: Based on the results of the pilot study the „Banská Bystrica Pathological Gambling Questionnaire“ is considered as useful and reliable diagnostic tool for the measurement of severity of pathological gambling which may find its position in the clinical practice in Slovakia. For more complex justification of the questionnaire reliability and validity, as well as for ascertaining descriptive BBDPH parameters including cut-off score, another survey, which is not focused only on a clinical sample, will be needed.

Quality of life has become firmly established as an important concept for an individual's life. The study introduces a concept of quality of life presented by Canadian Centre for Health Promotion, Quality of Life Research Unit of University of Toronto that developed a quality of life profile for adult population titled Quality of Life Profile – Adult Version (Brown, I., Renwick, R. & Nagler, M., 1996). The objective of this study is to provide a cross-cultural transfer and validation of this profile in the Czech cultural environment. The instrument was validated for a sample of 307 students of master degree in Physical Education and Sport. The questionnaire including nine key areas with the total number of 54 items was translated into the Czech language using a cross-cultural, back-translation technique. Following all steps recommended by the cross-cultural transfer method, the content and concurrent validity of the instrument was verified, producing a pilot version to be administered. In the pilot study, the specific reliability of items was verified using the time stability method. Internal consistency of each of the nine key areas was verified through Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega. The construct validity and structural theory was tested using the structural equation modeling method (Lisrel). The study presents the results achieved in each phase of the instrument validation, and brings modifications of the quality of life model resulting from the structural theory testing.

Odhady reliability se zohledněním vícedimenzionální struktury součtových skórů docílily až dvakrát (v případě celkového skóre až třikrát) menších standardních chyb měření a tedy i intervalů spolehlivosti.
The goal of this paper is the reanalysis of the Czech “Assessment of the structure of mathematical abilities” test (Traspe and Skalková, 2013), designed to assess problems related to the development of mathematical abilities in children aged approx. 5–11 years. The test contains 14 developmental scales and total scores – a total of 22 test scores with percentile norms. This study uses normative (N = 878) and clinical (N = 877) samples and focuses on three objectives: (1.) the estimation of composite scores reliability using stratified Cronbach's alpha; assessment of content validity and test fairness using (2.) a series of confirmatory factor analyses and (3.) differential item functioning analysis (DIF). Reliability estimates, which took into account the multidimensional structure of composite scores, led to a two-fold (in the case of total score, a three-fold) decrease in standard errors and narrower confidence intervals. Structural models supported the assumption of a weak factorial invariance between grades 2 to 5, except the Computing Automation subtest (the relationship of which with overall math ability strengthens with age). However, the factorial structures for first graders and younger children were different and there was no clear factor structure in the clinical sample. Results also suggested that the Mathematical Ideas subtest can serve as a screening method of the overall level of mathematical abilities. Single scales were not shown to be invariant according to the DIF analyses between grades and samples, which might mean that lower scores do not simply imply lower levels of mathematical ability, but also qualitative differences. This paper offers further recommendations for test use in common assessment situations.
Cieľ. Cieľom štúdie bolo overiť faktorovú štruktúru, reliabilitu a validitu slovenskej verzie dotazníka EPOCH na meranie well-beingu u adolescentov. Dotazník vychádza z teoretickej koncepcie optimálneho prospievania Seligmana a meria päť pozitívnych indikátorov (zaujatie činnosťou, vytrvalosť, optimizmus, zapojenie do vzťahov, šťastie), ktoré môžu predikovať optimálne prospievanie v dospelosti. Vzorka a metódy. Limity.
Objectives. The aim of the study was to verify factor structure, reliability and validity of the Slovak version of the EPOCH measure of adolescent well-being. The questionnaire is grounded in Seligman´s theory of human flourishing and assesses 5 positive psychological characteristics (Engagement, Perseverance, Optimism, Connectedness, and Happiness) that might foster optimal functioning in adulthood. Sample and settings. Factorial validity and reliability was evaluated within the sample of 1009 respondents (M=16.79, SD=2.10) and also in partial samples of boys and girls and respondents in early+middle and late adolescence. Validity was tested in four partial samples, gathered during one academic year as a part of a research project. Statistical analysis. To verify factor structure the confirmatory factor analysis (WLSVM) was conducted, to evaluate reliability and validity Cronbach coefficient alpha and Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated. Results. The Slovak version of the EPOCH measure demonstrated adequate levels of validity and reliability in primary, high school and university students. The five-factor structure reported by the author fit the data well and was equivalent for both genders and age groups. Limits. Additional studies with representative samples of primary, high, and university students, and verifying predictive validity are needed to further validate the measure.
