Rehydratace a prevence zůstávají v popředí, adjuvantní medikamentózní léčba doplňuje komplexní terapeutický přístup.
Acute gastroenteritis/diarrhea represents one of most frequent diseases in childhood age. Correct management of AGE is considered as a standard care in pediatrics. Rehydratation and prevention remain the main treatment tools, adjuvant therapy could complete the complex therapeutical approach.

Diarrhoea is a common symptom affecting a large percentage of patients. However, it can be a serious one, accompanying and signaling a variety of severe diagnoses. Generally it can be classified – according to its duration – as acute or chronic. Mechanism of its pathogenesis determines whether the diarrhoea is osmotic, secretory, exsudative, motoric, or caused by increased filtration. The most common etiologies of diarrhoea are infection, food intolerance, as well as inflammatory bowel disease, malabsorption or functional difficulties. Seniors, small children, fragile and polymorbid patients represent the most vulnerable group. They are endangered mainly by dehydration and mineral disbalance.
